DR. RICHARD PRICE

Dr. Richard Price: Minister, Professor, Community Organizer.


Richard Price is a rarity: an African-American Professor at the forefront of higher education and full-time minister. He served as a tenured professor in the Department of Social Sciences at the College of New Rochelle’s Harlem and Brooklyn Campuses. Price served as the assistant minister of the Harlem Church of Christ for eight years, and the supply minister of the Overbrook Church of Christ in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for eleven months. Recently, Price accepted the full-time minister position at the North Green Street Church of Christ in Tupelo, MS where he has been serving for two years.


He is the oldest son of six children to Michael and Tina Price of Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2006, he obtained the Bachelors of Arts degree from historic Livingstone College in History with a concentration in African American studies. In 2008, he obtained the Masters of Arts degree from St. John’s University in American History with a concentration in the American South. In 2015, he has obtained the Masters of Arts degree in Religious Leadership and Administration from the New York Theological Seminary. Price is a (CPE) clinical pastoral resident at the North Mississippi Medical Center, He earned the Doctor of Ministry degree in Community and Faith-based Leadership from New York Theological Seminary. On August 6, 2016, at the National Urban League national conference President Marc Morial honored Price with the prestigious “Heroes in the movement” award for his activism as a proven community organizer.


On September 23, 2016, after delivering the fall convocation speech, Price was awarded the PRESIDENTIAL AWARD of Distinction by the President of Livingstone College Jimmy R. Jenkins Sr.; Price was also appointed as a junior board member to the board of trustees. Price has been recognized for community leadership in the following media outlets: The New York Times, The Huffington Post, NPR, etc. He holds membership and affiliations in a variety of academic and civic organizations including the American Historical Association, The NAACP, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, and The New York City Micha Faith Table. Price has presented academic lectures in over 15 universities and colleges, including Yale University, Wilberforce University, Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks Job Corps Center and Pepperdine University. In August of 2014, he was honored with a prestigious federal education

accommodation and selected by the United States Department of Labor to serve as the 50th year commencement speaker. Recently Price was appointed to the office of Chancellor of the Darrell Memorial Institute in Lagos, Nigeria. Price was appointed by mayor Jason Shelton as Chairman of the Mayor's outreach task-force and has been serving for two years. With many educational and civic honors, Price is a member of countless community boards and local organizations, in the city of Tupelo where he and his wife happily reside.
